This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Sensory blankets and animals play a significant role in building regulation and sensory processing skills, particularly for individuals with sensory processing disorders or autism. Sensory blankets, often weighted, provide deep pressure stimulation, which helps calm the nervous system, promote relaxation, and reduce anxiety. This tactile input supports sensory regulation, making it easier to focus and process sensory information. Animals, on the other hand, provide emotional comfort and support, offering a calming presence and enhancing sensory integration. The interaction with animals helps individuals develop social and emotional regulation, further fostering the ability to manage sensory stimuli in daily life. Together, these tools promote a sense of security and balance, improving overall well-being and functioning.
