This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sensory blankets or weighted blankets are commonly used in occupational therapy practice to assist with emotional and physical regulation of our students with special needs. Students can use the blankets during circle time, reading and quiet time.

Weighted blankets will provide my students comfort and security and will ease stress and soothe anxiety.

The sensory input of a weighted blanket can help with paying attention in the class and playing with other children. Socializing with other children their age can be overwhelming because regular activities can be challenging for students with special needs.
