Finding interesting and on-level non-fiction readers for our class can be difficult. We want to get excited about current events and science every week!
Our class is in a public school of North Carolina.
They are eager learners, constantly asking questions, and very active! Our students are a diverse class of students who speak English as a first or second language, with different special needs and very different reading/academic levels. Their favorite academic subject is often science, because of our hands-on science kits.
My Project
With our Weekly Readers and Science Spin, we can connect our excitement and enthusiasm for science and interest in the world around us to our growing reading abilities. We will read together, with a partner, and independently. Our students will use the readers as a whole class and in literacy centers. The readers will go home with students to share with their families. Some families do have much reading material available at home for our students or their siblings.
Our students appreciate the exciting and engaging texts both at school and at home.
They are positively impacted in their reading skills and practice, as well as, learning about science and social studies.
