My Students
"The aim of education is not only to prepare students for productive careers, but also to enable them to live lives of dignity and purpose; not only to generate new knowledge, but to channel that knowledge to humane ends." -Ernest Boyer
My second graders are incredibly excited about learning.
As we read stories they are constantly examining the illustrations and making observations that they are eager to share with one another. They are always asking questions, wondering why things work the way they do, or how things come about.
My Project
My students will use Scholastic News and Science Spin as part of a daily centers routine. They will be given time to interact with these nonfiction texts and have their questions about the world around them answered. They will make connections with the text, as well as question it, and hopefully will crave to know and read more.
Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines will help my students interact with engaging nonfiction materials.
They will help my students become familiar with this text structure, while also having some of their questions answered, and creating new ones.
