Weeblers and Wobblers

My students need 5 Hokki stools in order to weeble and wobble while we focus on our 3rd grade work.

My Students

I have a classroom of energetic, fun-loving, third grade boys. These boys like to weeble and wobble as they work but I never want to let them fall. I want them to be successful in all aspects of our day.

My students are a very diverse group of boys.

They are a tight community of learners who are striving to become gentlemen in all aspects of their lives. I have students from different backgrounds and from different home situations. I have boys that love sports, cars, the outdoors, and video games. As with most boys, my students are very active and need lots of opportunities to move.

My Project

These stools would provide my students with another option besides sitting in just a standard, stationary desk chair. The stools would allow the boys the ability to weeble and wobble as teaching is going on. This would allow their minds to focus on the lesson instead of being so concerned with having to remain still in their chairs. My boys will be able to concentrate on math, reading, writing, science and social studies instead of being consumed with the thought of not being able to move.

Research has shown that boys learn differently than girls.

Boys need that extra movement in order to keep their minds focused on their learning. These stools will allow my students the necessary movement but will not be enough movement to cause a distraction to the others in my class.
