This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 3 and 4 year old preschoolers with mild to severe disabilities including Autism and speech delays . My students are full of laughter and giggles! They love to learn through songs, stories, movement and play and they come to school every day ready to listen and learn with joy and excitement. The more I can make their learning engaging, the more successful they will be.

My favorite Dr. Suess quote is, “The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you'll go”. My students are bright, curious, and loving who live in a neighborhood that has a high crime rate and few parks. School for some of my students is where they come to run, play and learn. I strive each and every day to give them the best early education possible. I feel privileged to be one of the first teachers to touch their young lives.

My Project

Listening to stories is the beginning of learning to read for preschoolers. My students love storytime and they love to listen to stories on CD’s. The music and sound effects draw them into the amazement of literature. The stories that they hear will expand their vocabulary, teach word patterns and stories are an awesome tool that help teach social, emotional, and self help skills.

Stories on compact discs is exciting for preschoolers.

They sit in awe as the stories are played. Currently, I only have a few stories on compact discs. My students ask me to play the stories again and again. I would love to expand the few stories we have and build a nice selection that my preschoolers will enjoy for years to come.
