Wee Can Write: Writing in a Prekindergarten Classroom
My students need a dry erase easel, individual dry erase boards, and dry erase supplies.

Writing is one of the main foundations of learning in early childhood. Children read what they write and write what they read. I teach 16 prekindergarten students in an urban district in Michigan; my students qualify for the program based on high-need risk factors.
My students come to school with many disadvantages; many have not started writing when they enter school. Students learn by example, and when others do something, they try to copy. Supplies are scarce in my district, and I do not have a whiteboard easel to demonstrate, nor do I have student boards for them to copy. When writing tools are provided for the students, they grab them and go - you can't stop them from writing. I do not have the supplies for the class to practice writing together on dry erase boards.
I am asking for a dry erase easel with supplies, and for student dry erase boards and supplies for my students. These supplies will enable my students for many years to come. My students will be able to practice and refine their writing skills in a modifiable format. Using dry erase boards rather than pencils allows the students to fix their mistakes and feel successful in their endeavors.
