My Students
We are an integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx with 26 Kindergarten students, each with unique strengths and challenges.
The 26 sprouts in our classroom have begun to blossom!
You can see and hear these great minds blooming as they begin to realize those squiggles on the page are words and that they can read them!
In our classroom, we strive to create a caring and safe learning environment where all students feel confident to take risks and grow as learners. We meet the needs of our diverse population by emphasizing compassion and respect for all.
My Project
Scoop rockers allow students to move their bodies in a way that does not disrupt the others around them. Many of my students have great difficulty sitting still. They want to rock and move - and this is ok - they need to do this, but it can be distracting to the students around them. The scoop rockers allow students to "get their wiggles out," and help them to focus on the speaker.
Research has shown that specialized seating can help students stay focused during a lesson.
These specialized seats help all of the students in my class to focus, since it minimizes distraction for others.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
