Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach art at an elementary school with students K-5 in a Texas metroplex. Most of our students come from low-income households. We provide a variety of opportunities many of our students would not experience otherwise.
Our students love art, but lack experience with a variety of art media. The students would benefit from the opportunity to explore media beyond the usual paper and crayons.
Our students would really enjoy a weaving project. By providing cardboard looms, yarn, weaving needles and beads, you can provide our students with materials to create a project which would introduce them to textile arts and could be included in a multicultural unit. Students would also have a fabulous project to take home and display when complete.
You could make it possible for so many art students to take part in a memorable art experience and create a fantastic project they will treasure for years to come.
