This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember the light of your parents face when you gifted them with your art project? How they displayed it on their fridge door or placed it on their desk?
I teach a great bunch of middle school students who have had very little exposure to the arts growing up.
In fact many have not touched a paintbrush or pastel until they came into my room. It's amazing to watch them to discover and unlock their creative potential.
My Project
Students will use yarn and looms to create their own artistic weaving. This hands on tactile project is especially great for my students with special needs. Students will learn about the art of textiles and weaving. They will develop their fine motor skills and create a functional piece of art while utilizing the principles of design. They will unleash their creativity. Disneyland Create.
This donation will expose students to a type of art they have not experienced.
They will learn how textiles are created. Who knows maybe we will have a few textile designers come out of our class. Students will have a chance to create, manipulate, and improve their fine motor skills and dexterity.
