Weather Patterns

Help me give my students instructional technology, a Microsoft Surface GO 10 tablet, to track and record weather patterns which will be exhibited in multimedia presentations with original, student-created soundtracks.

My Students

My students attend a tough, inner city school where 98% of the population receives free lunch, and 75% of their families receive AFDC assistance. Many do not have exposure to instructional technology at home, so it is critical that we make it available at school.

My students need instructional technology to track weather patterns in our area and across the country.

After using the Surface Go 10 tablet to research and record their findings, they will use the same technology to create songs, accompaniments and visuals for multimedia presentations. These materials will enable my students to learn in a hands-on way that will provide a longer-lasting and deeper understanding of music, mathematics and science.

My Project

My students need instructional technology to use for a multitude of reasons in our music classroom as we integrate science and the Arts. Students will first learn how to use our new technology, the Microsoft Surface Go 10 tablet, to record and follow weather patterns as they occur in our area. They will then select other locations and track those patterns to make comparisons. After collecting this information, students will use the Microsoft Surface Go 10 tablet as they work in teams to create multimedia presentations for peers and parents that will include original music created on the new instructional technology, the Microsoft Surface tablet), scientific data and visuals. Their presentations will then be shared in class and on our school website...all created on the new instructional technology, the Microsoft Surface tablet),
