My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 50% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Queens. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Arabic.
My Project
This year our kindergarten students will be conducting weather labs and experiments in order to learn about the environment. These hands-on materials such as blocks, thermometers, and magnifying glasses will give our students a better understanding of how weather affects the environment such as structure and landscape.
These materials will make science fun and exciting for our students.
During one lab, students will be creating a weatherproof structure. Students will then test their structure using different weather elements. This lab will be fun and keep students engaged in their environmental studies. We are so excited to begin the unit of study.
