Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Even though we're mostly "together again," students are still experiencing a disconnect from each other. They have to learn or relearn how to build relationships, maintain healthy sense of self, and collaborate to create a community where everyone feels included and valued. They are craving experiences away from screens and digital devices, and bringing children back into our makerspaces is a way to reengage them in learning and connecting.

Can engineering and art supplies really excite children and bring people together?

Of course! Children are naturally curious and humans are essential social beings, so makerspaces are perfect places to nurture both instincts AND inspire creativity and skill-building at the same time! A button maker would be a fabulous addition to our STEAM opportunities. Students can design wearable symbols of what matters to them--for spirit week, to support causes, or just to express their individuality.
