We Will, We Will Rock You!

Help me give my students a great start to 1st grade as they prepare to rock their reading skills!

My Project

First grade is the time that students truly start to see themselves as readers. They get excited about books and about the independence of reading by themselves. We will start off the year in the library by reading the new book Lupe Lopez, Reading Rock Star by e.E. Charlton-Trujillo and Pat Zietlow Miller. This is the story of a 1st grade girl who is a rock star, but struggles with reading. She learns that with a little practice, she can be a "Reading Rock Star" too!

I want to start off the 2025-2026 school year by giving my 1st graders sunglasses to encourage them to be "Reading Rock Stars!"
