My Students
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Dr. Seuss
My students come with various learning disabilities.
Their disabilities range from Autism, Asperger's, Speech & Language, FAS, TBI, ADHD, and Memory, however, they are the hardest working students I've ever had. Even when they begin to lose focus they're always trying their best. My students come from low economic households. Our school is a Title I school, where most students receive free school lunch.
We do not have the resources to provide all necessary materials, and it is difficult for their parents at times to send in their child's school supplies. I strive each day to make a difference in my students' lives and tell them how much I believe in them and how the world is a better place because they are in it!
My Project
I have requested gloves, hats, scarfs and tissues for all of my students. My students come in everyday and are missing either their gloves, their hat or their scarf because they have lost them and unfortunately are not replaced. I have already provided gloves to my students a month ago because of the cold weather.
All of my students have been coughing and sneezing all winter because of their lack of warm clothing, so I asked for a box of tissues for each student.
I have requested a sweat jacket for one of my students who comes in everyday, regardless of how cold it is outside with a short sleeve t-shirt and has no sweater or light weight jacket to wear during class or under their jacket. Lastly, I asked for socks because I have a student who does not have warm crew socks, they only wear and have ankle socks.
My students are very appreciative for any donations they receive and if we can keep them warm outside of the classroom then they are more likely to stay well and not be absent from school because of a cold.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
