This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it is not!" Said, Dr. Seuss. These words inspired my students to learn and do more for our environment.

My preschool students are a great group of 24 children who come to school ready to discover and learn new concepts through our fun yet meaningful hands-on activities.

In our school we serve low-income children and their families. But despite their socio-economic status, they are always ready and eager to learn. As any other children, they are naturally drawn to the outdoors, they enjoy the freedom that they have to explore nature. However, if we continue to give them the opportunity to interact positively with the environment, we will be helping them to develop a sense of wonder, the joy of discovery, and love for our planet Earth.

My Project

With the books that I'm requesting I will incorporate mini environmental lessons to introduce my preschoolers to important facts and ideas that explain simple ways of expressing care and respect for our planet. My priority at this moment is to reduce the usage of paper in our classroom. I want my students to know about paper and recycling, because if they know the facts, they will also learn more about trees and its impact on our environment. In order to do that, instead of using paper for their drawings and writing, I want them to use write & wipe practice books and boards. By doing this, they will become active participants in their learning and they will be encourage to care for our environment.

Statistics show that each person uses about 680 pounds of paper a year.

If we recycle and use less paper we will be saving trees, energy, oil, and water. Please donate to our project to help my preschoolers learn these important facts and become environmental aware.
