This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing kids who try their best each day to learn something new. Most of them come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.
Many of my students have struggled with learning online.
All of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of resources to help bridge the gap and increase their success in the new world of remote/distance learning.
My Project
My wonderful students and families have tried so incredibly hard to be engaged in learning since we made the switch to remote learning. However, my learners would benefit greatly from having adapted books that will allow them to show what they have understood and learned after reading a text or book.
This project will provide a binding machine, paper, and the necessary materials so that I can provide them with books that are accessible to their individual learning needs.
My phenomenal special education and English Language Learners will benefit immensely by books that will be adapted. These books will enable them to demonstrate comprehension, something that many of them struggle with. Having these books will empower students who might do not have the ability to verbally talk about the books we are reading and this will give them a sense of accomplishment and make them feel successful about reading in a way that they haven't before.
