This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I coach 600 kids daily for physical education. In our school, we serve Pre-K through fifth-grade students in a low socioeconomic area. Our school is a Title I school, and our entire school population is eligible to participate in the free lunch and breakfast program.
My students are full of life and a lot of energy.
They love to be outside and are eager to learn new sports. Currently, we are learning to play a variety of sports and my students are learning that there is a sport for everyone to promote an active healthy lifestyle. My students have a strong desire to learn to play all these different sports, but they lack the equipment and knowledge to do so.
My Project
We are requesting a TV for our gym. We will use this new TV in a variety of ways. First, we will be able to follow along with fitness videos. This will keep all of my students actively engaged and keep them moving. Next, we will use the new TV to introduce new sports, watch professional sports highlights, and get them excited about new units in sports. We will also use it to give quick presentations to go over rules, cues, or skill basics before starting a new PE unit.
This new TV can also serve as a scoreboard during basketball, volleyball and tennis games.
