My Project
The CC students in grades 6 -12 have a wish list of books that they would actually read. This list is generated from their "Books I Want To Read" activity that they revisit monthly.
Our library is a "beehive of activity" and while it does have quiet nooks for reading and studying, it also has collaborative centers which encourage conversation and creativity.
I work to create a culture of literacy. Library lessons focus on having students are not only exposed to texts in the classroom but also read independently books of their own choosing. Objectives of Library lessons focus on real world skills, critical thinking and divergent thinking; all of these are developed through reading and interacting with the text.
Our grades 6 -12 students are always asking to get in books that they would actually and so here is a portion of their requests. By providing books that they requested, students will be encouraged to read now and hopefully become lifelong readers along the way.
Students also need a few supplies, such as markers and colored pencils that will allow them to work on their projects for other classes.
