My Project
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are words 5th grade students should be exposed to, and understand. In order for students to full grasp these words, they need to read about them to understand their significance in our country. My students live in Gonzales, CA.
Gonzales, is a beautiful, hard-working community that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What I want my students to learn is that while their hometown values it, I want them to be aware that other people or places do not. How do we combat these fixed mindsets? How do we teach people to see the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion? These books will prepare my students for their future, and advocate for a world that values DEI.
