My students need a stage to perform plays and to sing to our school and parents.

My Students
Our students love to perform, show off their talents and they shine in the spot light. The problem is, we don't have a specific location to do this. The only place to perform is in the classrooms or in the gym on the floor. There is no stage to even create the effect of a stage.
I teach at a wonderful school where students come to learn and work hard each and every day.
My school services a diverse population with approximately 100% of our students receiving free/reduced price lunches. Therefore, they are already at a disadvantage. They love to perform and never get a chance to show their talents.
My Project
I am requesting portable stage steps so our students can perform. We need a portable stage because we have assemblies every week where students and teachers make announcements and perform. We have no auditorium so all assemblies are held in a large multi-purpose room. It is always very crowded and difficult to see the action that is happening at the front of the room. With this new stage, we could better support what is happening at the front. This stage is central to how we build and support the culture of our school. Being able to see and hear what is happening is key to keeping all 700 students engaged with what is happening at assemblies and plays.
.
I see this school as having the greatest need for performance equipment.
These students have never stepped foot on a stage to show off their talents to their peers or to accept any award. Every school in our district has a stage for the students to perform on and for the students to walk across to receive their awards at the end of the year. Having a stage will forever change the "spotlight" moments and experiences for our students.
