This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Playing is always fun especially when you are learning. Through play using wood blocks and crystal climbers my students will explore, experiment, and use their critical thinking skills to build.

Our school is a public school in Los Angeles.

Students are surrounded by poverty and have limited resources. I have eager first graders who love to learn and play. Unfortunately, many times through out the year we have indoor recess and lunch due to incidents around our neighborhood.

My Project

Students need tiles, blocks, and gears to explore and build. Students can explore symmetry, color, structure and fine motor skills with blocks, tiles and gears. The will be able to create and build new shapes. Through play students will build their patterning skills, eye hand coordination and use their critical thinking skills. Students will use their imagination to build using the wood blocks and crystal climbers. With the magnetic design boards students will use different shapes to create different designs. In the manipulative library it includes star, waffle and acrobat builders. With these manipulatives students build eye/hand coordination as they link, push and snap the pieces together.

The wood blocks, gears, magnetic board, waffle, star, acrobat builders and crystal climbers will help my students become critical thinkers as they build and figure out how to make their structure work/stand on its own.

Students will use these play manipulatives during math and also during those days they have to stay inside the class and play. Students will explore, experiment and use their critical thinking skills while playing. They will have lots of fun while they learn!!
