We Want to Do the Hokki-Pokey and Move Ourselves Around!
My students need 3 Hokki Stools to allow and encourage movement as needed during seat work to help them stay on task.

My Students
Our Special Needs classroom is very small in space but large in spirit, heart, and class size. In our humble little space, we work with students who, due to acute sensory challenges, need seating that will allow movement while working at their seats and encourage increased attention to task.
We are a Title I public elementary school in a large urban community in Missouri, the Show Me State.
Our Special Needs classroom serves students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade that require services all day (self-contained) or part of their day (resource). We work with children with a large variety of strengths and challenges including ADHD, Autism, Intellectual Disability, and Multiple Disabilities.
Our classroom space is very small and does not allow for a lot of out of seat student movement within the confines of our room, especially during times of ingress and egress of part time students throughout the day. Many of our Special Needs students require movement to improve learning receptivity. These stools are the perfect solution for our classroom space challenges and, more importantly, to help us better meet our students' sensory needs.
My Project
Imagine a kidney shaped table jam packed with oversized high back plastic chairs. This describes our group work area. Students are constantly getting their chair legs entangled with the table legs, confining their movement and frustrating them. The high backs and hard seats of our plastic chairs are not ideal for younger students with sensory challenges. These 3 Hokki Stools would not only solve students' ongoing chair and table leg tugs of war, but would take up less space in our small classroom and allow for student movement while attending to seat work at our group work table. These stools will promote sustained concentration on tasks, a skill many of our Special Needs students need help in strengthening. Because we have students of all heights, Kindergarten through fifth grade, we are requesting taller stools with this project to seat our older students comfortably.
We're in the Show-Me State, and we're challenging you to show us you will invest in our kids who have so many challenges of their own to overcome without having to worry about finding "wiggle room" in our classroom.
With these stools, it will be right there in their seats!
"Let's do the Hokki-Pokey and get our kids these stools... That's what it's all about!" Thank you!
