it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to read aloud and stumble over your words? My students need practice activities to help with their reading fluency so that they can feel confident with their reading.
I work in a high poverty area.
The students in my school do not have many resources or support at home. The students rely heavily on the instruction they get at school. Reading fluency is always a challenge with students. They need lots of fun activities and practice to become fluent readers.
My Project
I am requesting a First Little Readers Set, a Nonfiction Readers Set, and Flip and Read Sight Word Sentences that will help with sight word recognition and fluency. I am also requesting a Fluency Listening Center Activity pack, Classroom Fluency Stations, and Fluency and Comprehension Partner Scripts to use during literacy centers. Finally, I am requesting a Building Fluency Card bank and Teaching Reading Skills Pack to assist me in small group teaching. These materials will help all of my students become better readers through exciting activities. We will be able to work on reading fluency in several ways with the materials that are listed. My students will become independent, confident, and fluent readers.
Everyone wants to feel confident in their abilities.
Students feel the same way. I have watched students struggle with reading and fluency in the past. I know that it makes a big impact on their self esteem. I hope that working on reading fluency will give them the confidence they need to succeed.
