This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a Special Education Life Skills class with 70% of students diagnosed with Autism. Their only seating options currently are typical classroom chairs and two balance ball seats to be shared by all. My students need more choices.

Giving students an option of comfortable seating will lower their anxiety and allow them to focus on learning.

The benefits of comfortable seating choices such as the wobble chairs and floor seats include better attention and focus, less restlessness, and higher academic performance. Flexible seating will not only let them focus on learning but also teach them to make choices.
