We Value Equality and Diversity Through Literature
Help me give my students a collection of books about equality and diversity. I have selected books that will help my students end the school year discussing important topics such as treating others well and thinking about empathy.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of my students love to access our classroom library and select meaningful books that make them think, feel, and experience the beauty of literature. Nowadays, my kids have read most of the books that we have available in our classroom library. To provide them with more books to continue enjoying reading how they do, I decided to start this project.
Our project will be based on diversity and equality; these two topics are paramount if we want to help our students grow with solid values and the ability to continue working to ensure equal rights and acceptance.
In the same way, we will use these books to work on emotional education by discussing what the stories teach us and connecting it to personal experiences.
For each book my students read throughout our project, they will create a leaf that they will stick to a tree outside of our classroom. They will write what they liked, learned, or what surprised them about the books. We will have a tree full of leaves that will talk about acceptance, equality, and diversity, a tree that represents the values we believe in. We appreciate your help in pursuing our goal!
