I teach 2nd through 5th grade Special Education students in a class which is multi-cultural including African American, Russian, Cambodian and Hispanic. My students have a variety of difficulties with learning. Some of my students also receive Speech, ESOL, and gifted and talented services. The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch, which often leads to them not having the supplies they need for school.
The students that I teach are all working 1-2 years below their grade level in both reading and math.
These students need extra support and practice. They often need hands-on materials to help them learn.
Even with the challenges that they face, my students are hard workers who never give up!
My Project
My special education classroom serves students in grades 2nd through 5th. I serve over 50 students a day for both reading and math. Because of this, we use a LOT of pencils and erasers!
My students really enjoy having their own supplies in my room.
This teaches them responsibility in keeping up with their pencils and erasers. Also, having file folders helps keep our class organized by having a place for each student to store their papers and classwork.
With so many students to serve, my class uses a lot of office supplies. These donations would be greatly appreciated by our class.
