The library media center is a vibrant and evolving place that aims to be the hub of the school that touches upon all students and staff. We are an active place of learning and exploration.
We are the English Language Learner elementary school for the district and serve a diverse range of students.
To support that diversity and natural student energy, the library is very much alive. It is also not just about the books on the shelves or how we remember it as a child. The library is focused on exposing students to the positive and creative uses of technology. Our Makerspace is a new and growing section of the library where we foster hands-on learning.
My Project
Our makerspace needs additional supplies to support our "unplugged" learning. While we love our technology, student creativity can bloom with the chance to slow down and connect to the arts. We learn how to create in library and could really use some more hands on learning supplies.
Kids learn in all different ways and I want to support every student's learning needs.
We already have some Keva blocks, but these new kits allow us to build taller structures. The origami supplies will allow budding artists to continue their designs and the cardstock will support our pop-up book construction.
All of these items will also support our English Language learners as they build their language skills.
