This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from Nevada are a part of a statewide recognized Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) School. Our school provides scholars from all backgrounds, cultures, and many incomes an opportunity to discover, learn, and thrive. My enthusiastic second graders arrive to the classroom prepared to explore, uncover, and discover.

They eagerly create, build, design, read, write, and make choices all through the day.

They shine when they share their reasons as to why they have engineered their project using straws instead of string. They love to explore.

My Project

The use of lighting to set ambiance is used daily in our classroom. My students enjoy being able to choose a reading light or an area which is void of bright light. The use of choice is a daily activity in our classroom. They practice math, writing, reading, and much more through participating in choice.

My students are noticeably more actively engaged, excited and learning when they are given a choice.

Students also seem to be less disruptive of their peers.

By giving my students access to the tools I have selected they will become more engaged in their learning.
