Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom helps students develop fundamental academic and self-regulation skills. For 4th and 5th graders, meeting basic needs is essential as interest in school begins to wane and school avoidance increases. Often, students feel like they don't belong or come to school already stressed. These feelings usually result in loss of learning due to poor coping skills.
A dedicated hydration station will engage my students by meeting their basic needs.
Often, drinking a cool cup of water helps start conversations about how students' days are going or pivot into developing healthy habits at school. For some students, it would make school a much cooler space! The headphones are to help support students with anxiety and sensory needs.
