Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Pre-K classroom that serves students from ages 3 to 5 years old. My students are a group of diverse individuals that come from different cultural backgrounds, with individual physical and academic needs.
In our classroom, my students receive services from an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, an Occupational Therapist, Speech/Language Therapists, and a Physical Therapist to help them with their individual needs so they can be successful now and throughout life.
Every day, we strive to meet their individualized goals and emotional needs. In our classroom, our students enjoy learning in large/small groups using hands on material.
Many of our students are English language learners and they live in an area of extreme poverty in Los Angeles where all students qualify for the free-lunch program at our Title I school.
My Project
My students love, love, love building blocks. They are an important tool for preschoolers because building blocks help stretch preschoolers imaginations and inspires them to look beyond individual pieces to create masterpieces. Building blocks provide children with a variety of benefits and this requested Stand-Up Brick Building Center table will provide all my students with the opportunity to engage while standing and moving. My students whom use mobility devices will be able to stand tall using this tool for full inclusion during active play. Engaging with Building Blocks are impactful to their young minds because building blocks helps develops the following skills: cooperative play, communication, fine motor, critical thinking, problem-solving, engineering, math, science, creativity and so many more.
At this time, I would love to create a space dedicated specifically to building blocks.
A Stand-Up Building Center table, perfectly fit this need our classroom environment. The center will give all my students a large space to develop crucial early developmental skills while standing and building together.
