Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am changing grade bands this year and my Math corner really needs new and engaging manipulatives.
My students enjoy real challenges, the counters and place value activities are key to building a strong understanding of multi-digit operations in upper grades; which is why I choose these games and manipulatives to promote their thinking, focus, and engagement.
Understanding place value is a key concept for all arithmetic operations. Once they master this understanding, we will use the flashcards to lock the math facts. My students really need to take home these cards to practice the facts. This method has worked well the previous years using teacher-made flashcards. I am sure that these ones will be more durable and appealing.
