My Students

My entering fifth graders were my past third students. This group of students were optimistic, fun-loving, risk-takers, encouraging, humorous and inquisitive. In contrast, they could also be challenging, frank and at times, confrontational. However I would not have it any other way. They are beautifully imperfect and I would not change a thing. Each of them want to be guided, valued, hugged, listened to, and above all, loved.

My goal is to cultivate resilient, well-rounded citizens who are prepared to persevere through obstacles, potential roadblocks and challenges using problem-solving skills and their words.

My Project

STEAM is defined as a way for students to improve competitiveness in science and technology development incorporating the academic disciplines [Science, Technology, Engineering [Art] and Mathematics using real world problems and hands-on activities.

Technology is fast paced and constantly changing, meeting the demands of our "on the go" and "need it now" world.

The ability to think outside the box, problem solve and adapt are imperative and these skills if nurtured now will give our students a chance to survive and thrive in the 21st century world.

The resources requested in this project will provide reference sources for my students and I to dive right into STEAM. The TeachersPayTeachers activities will give my students immediate access to STEAM projects with the use of graphic organizers, engineering reports, academic vocabulary and rubrics. The print cartridges will be used to print the resources and labels from TeachersPayTeachers resources. Then, I can use the same protocol and framework when introducing the additional challenges for the remainder of the year. Finally, adding stories about children who were creative problem solvers who took risks. This may motivate my students to also take risks, create solutions, and think outside box. We are so ready to move full STEAM ahead.
