Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need to get outside and get moving! It has been challenging providing them with P.E instruction with limited equipment and limited ideas. My current class P.E equipment consists of one small beach ball and one small jump rope.
My students are lively and eager 3rd graders.
They love to learn and love to play. They live in a poverty stricken area in California. Unfortunately many of them have to deal with the "problems" that are often associated with poverty. They live in an area that is riddled with crime. Despite having been exposed to so much negativity at a young age, many of them appear untarnished and come to school happy and ready to learn.
My Project
Having basic sports equipment like multiple jump ropes and balls will allow for me to provide my students with more engaging and efficient P.E instruction. Having multiple of these items will allow more students to participate at once which will give them a good workout. Having special equipment readily available like a giant parachute will allow me to do some special activities which will help foster a positive feeling about school in general, and encourage teamwork.
Obesity is a huge epidemic in America.
Having sports equipment will help me to provide the physical education that my students deserve. My students live in an area that is not always safe for them to go outside and play afterschool and on the weekends. Many of my students parents parents don't have vehicles, or are working double-shifts to make ends meet. For many of my students school is the only place where they will be able to get outside and play. Please help me to help them.
