Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have twenty amazing 3rd grade students that show up to class eager to learn, despite the challenges they are faced with, both in and out of the classroom. Our school is a low income Title I school that offers free breakfast and lunch to all children. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels, all of which deserve the best education possible. Every student in my classroom is unique, and everyone in the room respects each other. I care about my students and they know it!
My goal, as a bilingual teacher, is to encourage my students to love learning and to develop lifelong independent learners.
I especially love that my students try their best on everything that comes their way. They love to read and enjoy hands-on activities. They are great helpers, and I know I can count on them. Every day, I make sure to instill good qualities that will make them amazing citizens. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis!
My Project
Teaching kids how to take care of books is important. Our classroom library collection is growing by the day and my students need to protect our books. I want each one of my 3rd graders to have their own book bag to keep the books they are reading protected. I began to notice that some of our book corners are getting damaged when students shove them in their desk.
We love books, we love to read, so we need to care for them.
I want to personalize their book bag with their name! I know my students will love having their own book bag to carry around and keep in class. I am requesting the mini press and iron on black vinyl to put their names on the bag in class with them. Giving them the opportunity to help in the process will make this even more special for them. I want my kids to understand that books are things to be treasured and once they do they will be able to read and look at them longer.
