This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and play with their friends. They think our classroom is perfect. They don't see that if we had a few extra materials, we would be able to do so many more things.
They are happy with what we have, but I want to give them more.
We are the only Pre-K class at our school and my students are a great bunch of kids. They are just starting out and they are so excited to come to school every day.
As their teacher, I try to maintain that excitement so that they will always love coming to school. Most of them come from very low income homes and have never been in school before entering my class.
My Project
I try to give my students as many experiences as I possibly can. The more experiences they have, the better they will be able to build on that background knowledge as they continue through school.
Sometimes, even I cannot provide a certain experience for my students.
But I can almost always find a book about the topic. Books can provide so many experiences for my students that they would never be able to have otherwise.
In our classroom library, we are missing books on some important themes. My students want to learn about holidays, different cultures, different types of families and being healthy. Reading books about these topics will open my students’ eyes to so many different experiences. They will learn so much about the world and themselves.
