it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Laminating film adds years of life to your visual materials. It can be used for various types of materials. The laminating film prevents tearing and wrinkling, and the high gloss finish provides an excellent write-on/wipe-off surface. Without this film we can't use our laminator!
I am the art specialist in a K-5 arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest, rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian (White) and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
I am requesting 4 rolls of laminating film of different thicknesses for our laminator. Our school has used all the film that was available, and we cannot get anymore. Having the laminator with film available means my students will not have to wait for the materials to be done and then returned to me. This means that learning will be continuous without delay. When the students are delayed, then learning cannot occur.
It may not seem like much, but one laminated poster that a child can use throughout the entire year can inspire them to be amazing artists.
