This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the largest number of students in my classroom than any other room at my school. I am currently teaching thirty-one first-graders in a Title l school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and four ESL (English as a Second Language students) in my classroom. Six of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.
My Project
This kid inspired project is for Hokki stools and books relating to health. My students wanted to come up with a solution with incorporating movement into their everyday activities.
My first graders have requested Hokki stools for our reading center.
They struggle with sitting still. My little ones will read books about Healthy eating as they sit on our Hokki stools. These stools will allow my students to move around for at least 60 minutes a day while staying in their seats.
Some of the books that they will be reading about include topics that will incorporate a healthy lifestyle. These books are Healthy Snacks, Healthy You!, Arthur Hooray For Health! and Healthy Plates: Being Fit.
My students will read books about healthy living and then exercise. They will also be given healthy food to eat.
Please support this kid-inspired project by helping by helping my students to have a healthy lifestyle.
