The batteries are dead. This is constantly happening to my students and we never have enough batteries lying around to replace the drained batteries. My students are begging for rechargeable batteries to solve this problem.
I teach a wonderful group of fourth grade students who have a desire to use technology to support their learning.
After all they are 21st century learners. My students live in a small rural community where over half of the population is of low socioeconomic status. The simplicity of having the necessities to make life a bit easier, is at times a challenge.
My Project
Imagine being in the middle of an audio book and all of a sudden the CD player shuts off because the battery is drained. There are no more batteries in sight and now you have to wait several days before the teacher can purchase batteries from the store or track down some free batteries. With the rechargeable batteries, this will not hinder the students' flow of learning. The batteries will be charged and ready for use time and time again.
The classroom digital cameras that were donated are in need of memory cards. At this time we are relying on a camera's memory of 4 pictures. This is very frustrating when the students are trying to capture several pictures for a project or presentation. With the memory card, they choose how many pictures they want to capture and edit instead of the camera memory limiting them to 4 pictures.
Please help stop the frustration of limitations on technology!
We need to be RECHARGED to learn! Your support will allow the students to continue learning at their own pace rather than the capacity of the resource being used.
