My Project
This school year, I want to create a warm and comfortable classroom environment that provides opportunity for students to better engage with instruction by choosing to sit in various forms of flexible seating. Adding comfortable seating options, such as floor cushions, wobble chairs, and soft stools allow my hyperactive students a chance to get their wiggles out at their seat during lessons and independent work so they aren’t missing valuable instructional time. Having multiple forms of flexible seating also allows for more student choice, autonomy, and responsibility in the classroom. Students can choose what type of seating they think will work best for them that day, and they know that when they have that choice that they need to be responsible with their bodies, our materials, and their own learning. Overall, I believe that flexibility seating would raise productivity in our classroom, and create a more positive environment for all of my students.
