My students come from a variety of economic and ethnic backgrounds. English is the second language for almost half of my students. Many do not have access to a computer and internet at home. Their only change to learn technology is at school.
I have 23 active 3rd graders who are extremely inquisitive.
We try to make time during the day for an ask any question and to look for the answer. They come up with some great questions, for example:"What is the most poisonous animal?" "How far is it to the moon?" "What is the fastest car in the world?"
My Project
My students need TIME Magazine combo bundle. Remember the excitement of a Weekly Reader? It was always the best day to read the fun, short articles. This is what I want for my 3rd graders. I want them to feel the excitement of reading, exploring new areas, reading articles written for kids by kids. My class last year had TIME for Kids, and the students couldn't wait to read them. My hope is TIME for Kids will give the students who don't like to read, the desire to read in a different form then a normal book, while also opening a door to current events, and interest facts. Please help the me provide this for my students!
