This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders are amazing. They are active and eager to learn. They are curious about everything, whether it be a new word or a rogue cricket that happens to wander into our classroom. My students are bright, resourceful, and full of imagination. Our school is in a very high poverty area where 98% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Though my students do not have many resources at home, they come to school happy and excited to start the day. They are truly inspirational.

My Project

My second graders love to read. Unfortunately, we do not have many reading materials or books since I have been a first grade teacher for many years. Most of our classroom library books are picture books or easy first readers. My second graders crave more.

TIME Magazine For Kids will allow my students to have exciting and informative weekly non-fiction stories to read.

These are high interest articles that my students will enjoy. We will be using the information in these articles to learn about animals, important people, and amazing places. My second graders will also use these magazines to practice fluency and comprehension.
