My Students

Our school is a Title I school, located in a small, rural county. Our classrooms are filled with a diverse makeup of students that include English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students.

Our students are very eager to learn, and they come to school excited for a new day.

Most of our students come from low-income households where there are limited budgets for school materials and supplies; however, their families are very supportive and very involved our school community!

My Project

Writing is an area of weakness for many of our students. They struggle with the writing process, with getting their ideas down on paper, and with being creative with their ideas. Many of them are not confident in their abilities, and they think writing is too hard.

Our students need materials to help them be more confident and skillful writers!

The writing strategies book will help us develop individual goals for each student, give students step-by-step strategies for writing with skill and craft, coach writers using prompts aligned to a strategy, and adjust instruction to meet individual needs. The chart paper and markers will allow us to brainstorm ideas and model the writing process in small groups. The folders and sheet protectors will allow students to keep their writing and handouts organized and in a safe space. The pencils and erasers are necessary tools for young writers. These materials will help our students become more proficient and creative writers!
