Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most hardworking students at our school. All of my students are special education students.

They are students with Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Language Disabilities or Other Health Impairments.

These disabilities make learning more difficult for them. In addition, over 65% of my students are English Language Learners, many of these students are still learning how to speak English. Our school has the highest Hispanic population in the state. Our school also qualifies as a Title I School: over 85% of our students live in poverty and receive free or reduced-rate lunch.

Despite all of these obstacles, these students are eager to come to school each day. They always try their best and never give up when they face hardships. The students at this school are really special, and their enthusiasm and willingness to learn make teaching them such joy.

My Project

My kids are visual and tactile learners. We have whiteboard tables in our room to help with our small groups. We use them for everything- from writing vocabulary words to writing paragraphs to solving math problems. We are all out of Expo markers and greatly need more!

My students love to paint and I try to incorporate this activity into our lessons.

We need paint brushes to allow us to continue with this activity.

We also need a new hot glue and Scotch tape to help us construct crafts. This will also allow us to display our work proudly on the walls.
