My Students
Many of my students lack access to technology that is needed to effectively explore and engage the resources the Internet provides. The students need engaging lessons that prepare them to succeed in our increasingly technology rich culture.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
They bring a variety of experiences, cultures, and opinions with them to the classroom. They are caring considerate classmates. The middle school I work at is filled with caring, committed, strong teachers. The culture of the school is very positive and academically focused. The parents, teachers, and administration are focused on providing our students engaging technology based lessons and projects.
My Project
I'm constantly searching for ways to enhance my lessons and make them more engaging for students. A tablet computer will give me the ability to bring countless resources to a students desk, and give me the opportunity to quickly explore the "what if?" questions that my students constantly ask. With a tablet I can enhance lessons by exposing students to Internet based videos, music, and primary documents that help them experience the past. Students will be able to research the internet through the tablet and prepare technology based projects.
We live in a technology rich culture, however, our students are being asked to learn to succeed in this culture although they learn in technology poor classrooms.
A tablet provides a wealth of knowledge that students can access. It gives students resources that help them express their creativity, and it gives teachers a strong tool that can help make lessons engaging for students. A tablet in my classroom will give students a greater opportunity to succeed.
