We are an energetic and curious group of first graders. We are lucky to be a dual language classroom where we communicate in English and Spanish! We believe that reading is the most important skill to acquire in the first grade.
We are making confident steps towards becoming fluent readers in two languages.
Our school is located in Bedstuy, Brooklyn where we experience under-enrollment and low test scores. However, we believe that reading and technology skills will help us to become stellar students, and raise those scores!
My Project
Kindle Fire tablets will motivate students to read in the classroom. Students will be provided with a reading program according to their specific needs. Students will be able to play games, read stories, and get helpful strategies to increase their independence when reading books, as well as increasing their stamina.
Our class will be able to access apps and websites that reinforce reading skills and enable higher level learning.
The tablets will become a tool that will help create learning experiences in the classroom as well, as build skills that the children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technology world. Please help us to get excited about reading!
