My Students
This is my first year of teaching my third and fourth grade scholars students, and they are unbelievable and awesome at the same time. I cannot imagine myself anywhere else except with these special young learners. Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally they are all different in their own way.
The use of these tablets and art materials will be almost a daily use in the classroom.
My students come from a variety of different economic background; some from low-income homes. Over 70% of our students receiving are free school lunch. Nonetheless, they are a spirited and very energetic bunch. My classroom consists of students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities developmental and communicative delays.
I am trying to meet their learning needs by creating a space that provides the best educational experiences. This will be a space they can call home as they are encouraged to be themselves and try their best always. I believe students with special needs require an educational space with much differentiated instruction and the essential tools required to target their learning styles. I am asking for these necessary supplies to get my students ready for fifth grade.
My Project
These 3 tablets will be used in the classroom to help students in many subject areas. We have various online supports for children to help with math, reading and art skills. Having these tablets in the classroom will give them the opportunity to use the online supports. Many of these students do not have the accessibility to computers, tablets or art supplies at home. So, having these tablets during independent work times they can choose a location in the room that works for them. Then they can go on one of the various websites to help them with their reading, art or math skills.
Tablets and Art supplies can be essential component in motivating students to want to do better.
Children love working with hand held devices. These students with disabilities love colors. Having arts supplies will make such differences for my students. They can use the various websites or online programs that we assigned to our students. Most of these digital resources give them awards and incentives to keep working.
