Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The student population at my school is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. Over 80% of the students in my room are learning English as a Second Language. I see about a thousand students every week, from kindergarten to grade five.
My school is located in one of the poorest areas of the state.
Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. All of the students receive free or reduced rate lunch, and some of them even go home without food on the weekends.
My Project
Mr. Sketch scented markers and Crayola markers are some of the most basic art room supplies. Yet, those basic supplies are vital to a young artist's education. The class sets of markers I am requesting will be used by every student at our school, over 1,000 students. Every student takes art class everyday, for the full year. This is a lot of art, and a lot of art means a lot of supplies! My students can reach their full potential as young creative individuals with the help of these markers, and your donation!
These students are very excited to get to art, and with your donations, I can ensure that, every day when the students come to art class, they will have new supplies to help with their art education.
