Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The student population at my school is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. Over 80% of the students in my room are learning English as a Second Language. I see about a thousand students every week, from Kindergarten to grade five.
My school is located in one of the poorest areas of the state.
Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. All of the students receive free or reduced rate lunch, and some of them even go home without food on the weekends.
My Project
We use pencils in the classroom every day! We need a class set of colored pencils to last us the entire year. I am requesting a class set of Crayola colored pencils they simply are the best for my elementary kids. Pencils are my biggest classroom necessity. With them, we wouldn't be able to draw, write, practice and much more!
Pencils are not just used for writing, they are used for making sense of the world around us.
We use pencils in the classroom for writing, drawing, practicing, vocabulary, graphing, poetry, projects, science, and assessments. We can't learn without a pencil. Will you help us?
