Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The student population at my school is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. Over 80% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language. I see about a thousand students every week, from Kindergarten to grade five.
My school is located in one of the poorest areas of the state.
Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch and some of them even go home without food on the weekends.
My Project
My class was very fortunate to have a MakerBot 3D printer project funded about two years ago for our Art room. We have made giant crayons, pencils and paintbrushes to be displayed in our room. Now, we need some more filament to make objects that can be displayed around the school. This plastic filament is used to print, think of it has our "ink" for a printer.
This project will provide extra plastic filament so that we may work on this process throughout the school year.
I want to make sure that we have enough filament/plastic that we can print of designs of all different sizes. Please help me inspire children to make a difference in the world someday with some more filament!
